Neighborhood First Program,Inc.

History

Neighborhood First Program, Inc. opened its doors in October, 2001, and was incorporated in December 2004.

James T. Wells, founder and former Executive Director of The Neighborhood First Program, Inc., retired from the Bucks County Juvenile Detention Center after serving his community for over 30 years, including 20 as Deputy Director. He retired in order to create a program which would  address the needs of youth who were 'falling through the cracks' of the the juvenile justice system.

Neighborhood First Program, Inc. was created to provide corrective measures for area youth as a structured alternative prior to juvenile incarceration, fines and school expulsion.  The idea is that the problems facing youth are best dealt with in the "Neighborhood First."

Since it's inception, Neighborhood First has flourished, thanks to the support of families, churches, community organizations, the Bucks County Juvenile Justice systems, local district judges, the Bristol Borough School District, the Bristol Township School District, police departments, and former and current congressional representatives .
